On June 6, 2008, we published the two papers below in Thyroid Science. In their paper, Dr. Bo Wikland and Dr. P.O. Sandberg of Stockholm, Sweden comment on the views expressed by other authors concerning thyroid fine-needle aspiration published in the April 5th issue of The Lancet. We appreciate the crucially important judgment of the TSH test that Dr. Wikland and Dr. Sandberg express in their paper.

Dr. David M. Derry's paper is truly an extraordinary case report. In it, he describes his three-year study of the regeneration of normal tissue from scarred tissue by the use of topical iodine. Dr. Derry's observations and documentation are exemplary; his  report is one of the finest examples of the failure to refute one's own hypothesis despite long-term, rigorous, and high-quality documentation. In the mistaken concepts and vernacular of modern medical researchers, his study outcome strongly "supports"  his hypothesis. I know that his clinical and scientific work would be lauded by three of the tallest giants of the philosophy and practice of high quality science, Prof. Linus Pauling, Dr. David Horribin, and Sir Karl Popper. We are now preparing for publication  part II of Dr. Derry's case report.

As criticism is the lifeblood of science, we welcome you to critique the ideas and beliefs expressed in the papers we publish in Thyroid Science. We provide most authors' email addresses. You may write to an author privately, or you can submit a letter to be published in our letters section.

To submit a letter to the editor or a manuscript for publication, please see our Authors' Guidelines and How to Submit to Thyroid Science. We welcome your submissions. If you would like to communicate with us, please write to Editor@thyroidscience.com. Thank you for your interest in Thyroid Science.

Kindest regards,
Dr. John C. Lowe
Editor-in-Chief
